INSER is one of the nation’s 16 Intelligence Community Centers of Academic Excellence (IC CAE) sponsored by the Defense Intelligence Agency. The IC CAEs were established to promote the alignment of curricula (e.g. scientific and technical programs of study, international relations) necessary to develop core skill relevant to the Intelligence Community.
INSER advances the CAE program objectives through the following activities:
- Course Development: INSER supports UW faculty in development of courses that build skill sets relevant to IC professions
- IC Colloquium: INSER hosts an annual Intelligence Community Colloquium to raise awareness of issues related to national security. The 2009-2010 IC Colloquium, Information and Intelligence in Open Society, was held in January, 2010.
- Lecture Series: INSER sponsors the UW International Security Colloquium (UWISC)
- Language and Cultural Exposure Scholarships: INSER awards study abroad scholarships to qualified students who are interested in careers in government service.
